Amy Alamar, EdD has worked in the field of education as a teacher, teacher educator, researcher, parent educator, and education reformer for over twenty years. Amy has taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels and is currently a professor of education at the University of St. Joseph. She has worked in and out of the classroom with a focus on learning and instruction, family relationships, and addressing school change with a dedication to student engagement and wellness. Amy has also led curriculum development and implementation for two different EdTech non-profits.
Amy has authored two books: Parenting for the Genius: Developing Confidence in Your Parenting through Reflective Practice (For the Genius Press, 2014) connects education and psychology research to parenting practices. Her most recent book, The Parenting Project: Build Extraordinary Relationships with Your Kids through Daily Conversation (Fair Winds Press, 2018), focuses on communication strategies to maintain influence with kids. Amy hosted the web show Parenting from the Trenches on Yellowbrick.me, is a contributing author to the Disney parenting website, Babble and the Psychology blog, Hey Sigmund. She is a parent educator with Peace at Home Parenting Solutions and co-hosts the podcast, Parenting Beyond the Headlines.« Go back
